Portrait of Gallery
“The œuvre emerges in its time and of its time, but it is only once displayed in public that it becomes a timeless work of art.” – André Malraux
The renowned gallery, an integral part of Québec’s cultural heritage if ever there was one, is located on Fort Street, directly across the Château Frontenac. The Galerie Le Chien d’Or transcends the ages, its mission enhanced via the ever rising quality of artworks offered, thanks to the vigilance of the successive proprietors.
Johanne Thomassin, the present owner, purchased the gallery name from Anne Lemieux, the daughter of painter Jean Lemieux (1946-2011). Drawing on her diverse experiences within the art market, the highly talented painter artist has brilliantly taken on the challenge.
